What does Low-Tox mean?

You’ve probably seen the term “low‑tox” floating around online, usually next to words like crunchy, scrunchy, or silky. Most of the time, those labels are used to box people into a category or describe a certain type of content. That’s never really been my thing.

For me, low‑tox isn’t about labels or perfection. It’s about making informed choices and doing the best you can with the life you actually live.

Living low‑tox means choosing safer, cleaner options when you can, within your budget, your home, and your season of life. It also means accepting that you cannot control everything, and that is okay. You can avoid fragrances in your own home, but you cannot control the person in line ahead of you who drenched themselves in perfume. You can be mindful of ingredients in your kitchen, but that family dinner out is still cooked in seed oils. Sometimes you walk into a house and there are candles burning in every room. That does not mean you failed.

We live in the real world, not a bubble.

That’s exactly why I use the term low‑tox. My goal is not perfection. My goal is to offer options that lower overall exposure and help you understand what you are bringing into your home, so you can make choices that feel informed and intentional instead of stressful.

Along the way, I have learned that everyone’s priorities look different. Some people want the absolute cleanest option possible. Others need something that is safer and more affordable. Some are just trying to take a few steps in a better direction without turning their life upside down. This space exists to meet you where you are and help bridge that gap.

Low‑tox living should not feel heavy or restrictive. It should feel supportive. Trying to make perfect choices all the time is a fast way to burn out and give up altogether.

That being said, I am thoughtful about what I recommend. I avoid greenwashed products and gravitate toward companies that are transparent about their ingredients. To the best of my knowledge, I avoid products with known carcinogens or endocrine disruptors. The foods and products in my home matter to me, and I only share things I feel good using for my own family.

My hope is that this space gives you clarity and confidence, not pressure. You do not have to do everything at once, and you do not have to do it perfectly. You just have to keep learning and doing what makes sense for you and your family.
