DIY Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup distilled water (or just filtered)
- 1/2 teaspoon vitamin C powder (ascorbic acid)
- Optional: a few drops of glycerin (for a little extra moisture)
- Optional but preferred: amber glass spray bottle (helps protect the Vitamin C from breaking down)
How to Make
- Add vitamin C powder to filtered or distilled water
- Stir or shake until fully dissolved
- Pour into a spray bottle
How to Use
Before swimming:
➡️ Lightly mist hair and skin to help reduce chlorine absorption
After swimming:
➡️ Spray on hair and skin to help neutralize chlorine, then rinse or follow with your normal routine
How long does it last?
Room temp: about 3–5 days max
In the fridge: about 1–2 weeks
It breaks down when exposed to light, air, and heat, which causes it to lose effectiveness over time.
Notes
➡️ Vitamin C reacts with chlorine and helps neutralize it
➡️ This is meant to be super simple, no need for a complicated formula
➡️ Store in the fridge if possible and remake every 1–2 weeks for freshness
➡️ If you have sensitive skin, do a batch test to see how your skin reacts
➡️ Your product went bad if: color changes (yellow/orange tint) or it smells off or doesn’t feel as effective
